Police recover stolen vehicle, arrest two in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of a Toyota Highlander recovered in Kajola, Ose Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola said in a statement that the suspects, Oluwajobi Ezekiel and Patrick Francis, were apprehended by operatives attached to the Kajola Division after swift intelligence coordination.
The duo had allegedly deceived one Olaolu Benson of Lege, Kajola, on October 4, 2025, by claiming that one of the tyres of his Toyota Highlander (2012 model, registration number KSF 433 JR) was deflated and sought permission to take it for gauging.
Trusting them as familiar faces, the victim released the car, but the suspects reportedly drove it away, refuelled at a nearby filling station, and attempted to sell it in Ondo town before they were intercepted by police.
The vehicle was recovered in good condition, while preliminary investigation showed that the theft was premeditated. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the Kajola Division for its swift response, describing the feat as a demonstration of the Command’s adherence to the Inspector General of Police’s vision of intelligence-led policing.
He assured that the suspects would face prosecution and urged residents to remain cautious when entrusting their vehicles or valuables to others, no matter how familiar.
