The Ondo State Police Command has reunited Baliki Azeez, who was earlier declared missing, with her verified guardian, bringing relief to her family and the community.

The development was disclosed in a press release issued on Tuesday.

According to the police, at about 5:30 p.m. on February 11, 2026, a 40-year-old man, Najimudeen Akibu of Agiboro Street, Idi Mago, Ore, reported at the Odigbo Police Station, claiming to be the guardian of Baliki Azeez.

Akibu informed the police that the child’s parents were deceased, a claim that was also confirmed by the girl during questioning.

The Command said it conducted the necessary assessment and verification before releasing the child to the guardian to ensure that due process was followed.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna,  has cautioned parents and guardians to properly monitor and supervise their children to prevent cases of missing persons.

He stressed that vigilance, awareness of children’s whereabouts and constant communication could significantly reduce such incidents.

The Command reiterated its commitment to child protection in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, urging members of the public to promptly report cases of missing or found children to the nearest police station.
