President Tinubu pays tribute to Hannah Awolowo

President Bola Tinubu has paid a glowing tribute to the late Chief (Mrs.) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, describing her as a pillar of courage and dignity, and a source of inspiration to generations of Nigerians.
In a statement marking the tenth anniversary of her passing, President Tinubu said Mama H.I.D. Awolowo, wife of the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo, lived a life of service and sacrifice that continues to resonate across the nation.
“Ten years may have passed, but the memory of Mama H.I.D. Awolowo, the matriarch of the Awolowo family, remains fresh and deeply respected in the heart of our nation,” the President said.
He praised her resilience in standing by her husband through “trials and triumphs,” noting that she not only preserved his legacy but also became “a guiding light for generations of Nigerians.”
“Her life showed what it means to live with faith, discipline, and love for country,” President Tinubu stated, adding that her enduring legacy would continue to inspire the collective effort to build a just, united, and prosperous Nigeria.
Mama H.I.D. Awolowo, fondly remembered as the “Jewel of Inestimable Value,” passed away on September 19, 2015, at the age of 99.
