President Tinubu to host Super Falcons in Abuja Monday

By Tosin Omojola –
Victorious Super Falcons of Nigeria are expected back in the country on Monday to be honoured with a presidential reception.
According to official information, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will welcome the team to the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.
The Super Falcons staged a remarkable comeback to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final on Saturday night at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. The home team had taken a 2-0 lead into halftime, but Nigeria responded in the second half with goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini to secure a dramatic victory.
In recognition of their performance, President Tinubu is expected to congratulate the players and coaching crew formally and announce a monetary reward for their efforts.
Before the final, the President had already approved the immediate disbursement of outstanding bonuses and allowances to the team — a move widely credited with boosting their morale ahead of the championship match.
Following their win, President Tinubu also held a phone conversation with the team to commend their resilience and fighting spirit.
The triumph marks Nigeria’s 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, further cementing the Super Falcons’ place as the most successful women’s national team on the continent.
The event at the Presidential Villa will serve as both a celebration of sporting excellence and a symbol of national pride.
