By Kunle Sanni
Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed that Nigeria’s economy is steadily rebounding, attributing this progress to the policies and determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Despite prevailing challenges, Shettima emphasized that the administration remains focused on fostering inclusive economic transformation.
Speaking during a one-day retreat for presidential aides and unit heads in his office held in Abuja on Saturday, Shettima highlighted significant achievements under Tinubu’s administration, including a rise in crude oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is resolute in his mission to redefine Nigeria’s trajectory. Our goal is to hand over to the younger generation a united and progressive nation,” the Vice President stated. “While the economy faces hurdles, we have made a pivotal turn. Oil production has reached 1.8 million barrels per day, and the economy is poised for substantial growth in the coming year.”
Shettima urged presidential aides to enhance their collaboration and dedication to supporting the President in achieving his mandate. “Nigeria is greater than all of us. I call on everyone to work as a cohesive team, fostering unity and collective progress,” he added.

In his opening remarks, Senator Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), explained that the retreat was organized to streamline operations and ensure seamless task execution within the Vice President’s office.
He highlighted the retreat’s objectives, including improving strategic communication, fostering partnerships, and enhancing synergy with ministries, departments, and agencies.
Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, praised the aides for their contributions, particularly in strategic communication, while calling for more robust collaboration across all departments.
Similarly, Dr. Aliyu Moddibo Umar, Special Adviser to the President on General Duties, urged aides to apply their expertise diligently and remain focused on the administration’s goals.
“We must concentrate on the tasks ahead and deliver measurable results. The focus should remain on the work,” Umar emphasized.
