EFCC monitors Ondo governorship election to curb electoral offences

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were deployed across Ondo State on Saturday, November 16, to monitor the governorship election.
This initiative is part of the agency’s broader mandate to ensure the integrity of electoral processes by combating vote-buying, vote-selling, and other financial crimes associated with elections.
INEC reported that over 2 million voters were registered to participate, with 3,933 polling units equipped with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to enhance transparency through real-time result uploads to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

To support the credibility of the electoral process, EFCC operatives collaborated with other security agencies and stakeholders. The commission reiterated its commitment to preventing economic crimes and prosecuting offenders found violating electoral laws.
The Ondo governorship election saw 16 political parties fielding candidates, with electoral materials distributed across all 18 local government areas ahead of the polls.
INEC emphasized that its operations were inclusive and accessible, ensuring participation from marginalized groups, including women, youths, and persons with disabilities.
