Prince Kuye pledges to unite all Ijebus if chosen as Awujale

Prince Hon. Ademorin Kuye, a serving member of the House of Representatives representing Somolu Federal Constituency of Lagos State, has said that if chosen as the next Awujale of Ijebuland, he would be a unifying monarch for all Ijebus, regardless of class, political affiliation or faith.

Kuye, a lawyer and entrepreneur, said his aspiration to the revered Awujale stool was driven by a deep-seated desire to serve the people of Ijebuland, noting that the throne offers a broader platform for lifelong service.

He dismissed concerns about his political background, stressing that his entry into politics was motivated by public service and that he remains a professional with a thriving law practice and business interests.

According to him, ascending the Awujale stool would represent a call to higher service and an opportunity to serve the people of Ijebuland and humanity for the rest of his life.

“I know too well that if I am chosen, I will relinquish my position at the House of Representatives and every other thing connected with it. From the moment I am chosen to ascend the throne of my forebears, I cease to belong to any political party or interest. The palace and the King belong to all Ijebus,” Kuye said.

He acknowledged the legacy of the immediate past Awujale, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona (GCON), noting that the late monarch elevated the stool to an enviable height that requires experience and capacity from any successor.

Kuye said he was fully aware of the enormous responsibilities attached to the Awujale stool and pledged to uphold the dignity, honour and majesty of the throne if selected.

He concluded by assuring the people of Ijebuland that if he emerges as Awujale, he would serve as a rallying point for all Ijebus, irrespective of their social class, political leaning or faith.
