PSG thrash Madrid 4-0, book World Club Cup final against Chelsea

In-form Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) of France proved too much for Real Madrid on Wednesday night as they walloped the Spanish giants 4-0 in the second semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The emphatic victory ensured the French side booked a titanic final clash against an equally in-form Chelsea of England.

Chelsea had on Tuesday secured their place in the final courtesy of a 2-0 win over Brazilian side Fluminense.

A brace from Fabian Ruiz, who scored in the 6th and 24th minutes, alongside goals from Ousmane Dembele (9th) and Goncalo Ramos (87th), sealed the comprehensive win for PSG over the La Liga heavyweights.

PSG’s triumph at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey means the final will feature two teams with recent success in UEFA club competitions going head-to-head.

PSG had claimed the UEFA Champions League title in spectacular fashion, defeating Italian side Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.

The Blues, on their part, lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy after a convincing 4-1 win over Spain’s Real Betis.

The final match will take place on Sunday at the same MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
