PZ Cussons Nigeria declares N5.22bn loss over mounting operating expenses

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has announced N5.22 billion loss before tax in first quarter (Q!) ended August 2025 unaudited result and accounts as against N38.64billion reported in   first quarter ended August 2024.

The listed multinational company on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) declared N4.65 billion loss in Q1 2025 as against N8.64billion loss declared in Q1 2024.

Meanwhile, cost of sales, operating expenses and exchange loss played negatively impact on the company’s profit generation in Q1 2025.

In the period under review, cost of sales stood at N27.76 billion in Q1 2024, 29.4 per cent increase from N21.45 billion in Q1 2024, while total operating expenses moved from N5.4 billion in Q1 2024, about 34.78 per cent increase from N7.3 billion in Q1 2025. 

In addition, the company announced N9.28 billion foreign exchange loss in Q1 2025 from N44.5 billion in Q1 2024. 

The unaudited Q1 2025 result and accounts revealed that the company’s revenue stood at N39.99 billion in Q1 2025, about 28.7 per cent increase from N31.07 billion reported in Q1 2024.

PZ Cussons Nigeria’s principal activities of the Group are the manufacturing, distribution and sale of a wide range of consumer products and home appliances through owned depots. These products are leading brand names throughout the country in detergent, soap, cosmetics, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners.

The Group also distributes products of Harefield Industrial Nigeria Limited, a related entity.
