Rain wreaks havoc on Governor’s Office, houses, shops in Ibadan

By Richard Thomas, Ibadan

Residents in some parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital are still counting their loses, following a downpour on Thursday evening.

The heavy rain, which started at about 6pm, was accompanied with strong winds. It removed the roofs of the office of the state governor at Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan.

It also blew off the roofs many other houses and shops in the city. Areas mostly affected include Sango, Eleyele, Asi, Bodija, Agodi Secretariats and others.

The damage has since left some of the affected landlords in palpable fear of another rain likely to fall any moment from now.

Some affected residents who spoke with journalists appealed to the state government to come to their aid by helping them with cash and roofing materials to fix their damaged roofs.

The Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) could not be reached as at the time of filling this report.
