Remain loyal after primaries, Tinubu’s re-election our priority – Aiyedatiwa to aspirants

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appealed to aspirants of the All Progressives Congress to remain committed to the party irrespective of the outcome of the 2027 primary elections, stressing the need for unity ahead of the polls.

The governor made the call on Sunday while addressing party stakeholders at the APC South Senatorial District meeting held in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, as preparations intensify for the party’s primaries.

Aiyedatiwa urged aspirants vying for various elective positions to embrace sportsmanship and place the party’s collective interest above personal ambition. He emphasised that while individual aspirations are legitimate, the overriding objective of the party is to secure victory, particularly the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The governor cautioned against defection or actions that could weaken the party, noting that only one candidate can emerge at a time in any contest.

“I urge you to remain loyal whether you win or lose. There is always a time for everyone, and patience is key in politics,” he said.

Reflecting on his political experience, Aiyedatiwa recounted how he faced several disappointments in previous contests but remained steadfast within the party. He noted that his consistency and loyalty eventually paid off, culminating in his emergence as governor, urging others to draw lessons from his journey.

In his remarks, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, commended the governor’s leadership and urged party members to sustain their support to consolidate ongoing development efforts.

The meeting attracted prominent stakeholders, including former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi and other party leaders, who reiterated the need for unity as the 2027 elections approach.
