Following a joint operation between major security agencies in Oyo State, the remaining two abducted cocoa farmers have secured their release.
Updating journalists on the recent development, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Akeem Olatunji, confirmed that all kidnapped farmers have now regained their freedom, noting that the successful rescue followed coordinated efforts by a joint security team.
He indicated the team comprised of the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Western Security Network, and local vigilantes.
According to Olatunji, the rescued victims have since been handed over to the police after the operation.
He further revealed that the mission was coordinated by the Security Adviser to the Oyo State Governor, Fatai Owoseni, while commending the security agencies for their swift intervention.
Western Post earlier reported that the abduction occurred during the visit of some cocoa farmers to the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Ibadan on Wednesday.
According to security sources, two of the four victims were freed and three suspected kidnappers arrested within 24 hours of the abduction.
