Remo Stars, Rivers Utd, Kwara Utd, Abia Warriors set for continental campaigns

By Tosin Omojola –

The quartet of Remo Stars, Rivers United, Kwara United, and Abia Warriors will take a break from the NPFL this weekend to commence their campaigns in continental competitions.

League champions Remo Stars will host Comoros side U.S. Zilimadjou in the first leg of their CAF Champions League tie at the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta — their adopted home ground.

Nigeria’s second CAF Champions League hopefuls, Rivers United of Port Harcourt, will be away to FC Les Aigles of Congo on Saturday.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Kwara United are already in Ghana to face Asante Kotoko in their first-leg match on Sunday.

At the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Abia Warriors will on Sunday welcome Djoliba FC of Mali for their first-leg encounter.

This development means the matchday five fixtures involving the four clubs will be put on hold until new dates are announced by the league’s organising body.
