Reps resolve to probe customs over alleged smuggling activities, brutality in Badagry

Members of the House of Representatives have resolved to probe alleged smuggling activities by personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Badagry, Lagos State.
The resolution was made during plenary session on Wednesday after adopting a motion of urgent public importance moved by the member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, Oluwaseun Whingan.
Cited an incident involving a journalist in Badagry, Lagos state earlier this month, Whingan raised eyebrows over the behaviour of the customs officers in the axis.
He also called for the investigation of the Nigerian Customs Service’s legal framework and the activities of officers of the agency while carrying out their duties
However, the motion was referred to the Committee on Customs and Excise.
