Residents commend NYSC for free medical outreach in Kajola

Residents of Kajola in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State have commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for providing free medical services under its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD).
The outreach, held at the Kajola Township Hall, offered residents free medical consultations, checkups, essential drugs, and health education on dental care, diabetes prevention, and pain management, among others.
Beneficiaries, including the elderly, farmers, and artisans, described the intervention as timely, especially given the rising cost of healthcare.
Ede North NYSC Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Agboola Naimot, explained that the HIRD programme is a nationwide initiative mandated by the NYSC headquarters and conducted quarterly to assist rural communities.
“It’s a form of free health service for the aged and those in need. It is part of our Community Development Service (CDS) activities, which is why we mobilized corps members who are doctors and nurses for this outreach,” she said.
The Baale of Kajola, Chief Yinusa Kabiru Olore, expressed gratitude to the NYSC for choosing Kajola, noting that the intervention came at a critical time and lauded the corps members for their dedication.
The Asiwaju of Kajola, Chief Ayobami Agboola, also thanked the NYSC for the gesture, describing the outreach as a blessing for residents who cannot afford healthcare. He urged the community to prioritise their health and embrace peace to attract more development projects.
