Residents praise concrete projects as presidential team inspects Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway

Residents and commuters along the Zuba–Jere corridor have expressed satisfaction with the use of concrete pavement technology on the ongoing Abuja–Kaduna–Kano super highway, as a presidential media team toured key federal government projects in the North-West.
The inspection, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, began on Thursday with a visit to the completed stretch of road from Zuba in the Federal Capital Territory to Jere in Kaduna State.
The section forms part of the Abuja–Kaduna segment of the larger highway project under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing road safety, and boosting economic activities across northern Nigeria.
Speaking during the tour, Onanuga said the exercise was designed to verify project quality and showcase progress made by the government.
“I think every government must endeavour to blow its trumpet, so what we have done is to showcase what the President has done in the last two years and seven months of his administration,” he said.
“The government has done a lot of things. It is just incredible that some people will open their mouths and say the President has not done anything.”
He added that the project reflects the administration’s commitment to adopting durable and cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
Officials overseeing the project said significant progress has been recorded. The Resident Engineer from the Federal Ministry of Works, Chukwuma Kalu, disclosed that about 88 kilometres of concrete pavement have been completed from Zuba to Jere, while 21 kilometres have been covered on the Kaduna–Jere inbound section.
Also speaking, the Senior Project Manager at Infiouest International, Robert Turner, said over 1,000 Nigerians have been employed on the project, ranging from engineers to labourers.
