A heavy rainstorm that occurred on Monday evening has caused extensive damage to Peculiar Grace Church, located along Old Benin Road in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The rainstorm, which began around 6 pm, was accompanied by strong winds that reportedly tore off parts of the church roof and damaged sections of the building.
Residents in the area told Western Post that the violent wind swept across the neighbourhood, affecting rooftops and other structures.
An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the incident caused serious damage to the worship centre, noting that the roof and some interior fittings of the church were severely affected, making the building unsafe for immediate use.
The source added that the destruction might cause temporary disruption of church activities while repairs are carried out.
