‘Respect our party structure’ – ADC to coalition members in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ondo State has warned members of the newly formed political coalition not to tamper with its existing party structure. The party insisted that all intending members must follow due registration procedures at the grassroots level.

The warning follows the recent inauguration of a coalition in Akure, comprising politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Labour Party, ADC, and others.

Speaking on the development, ADC’s governorship candidate for the November 16 election, Adeyemi Nejo, stated that the party’s internal structure remains intact and that no positions have been ceded to coalition members.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Nejo welcomed the coalition’s formation and participation but stressed that there are clear guidelines for integration which must be followed.

“This statement is to clarify the status of ADC’s organisation in Ondo State and to guide coalition partners on proper membership procedures,” he said.

He added that the party’s national leadership has affirmed the current structure in Ondo remains fully operational and unaffected by the coalition arrangements.

Nejo emphasised that the ADC’s structure comprises the state chairman and executive, local government chairmen and their executives, and ward-level leaders across the state.

“There is no provision in our party constitution for roles like ‘state coordinator’ or ‘LGA coordinators,’” Nejo said, referencing the coalition’s Coordinator, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, who recently announced that several PDP leaders had joined the alliance.
