Rumoured bandit invasion forces closure of schools in Ekiti community

Residents of Ayegbaju community in Ekiti State were thrown into panic on Friday following reports of a possible bandit attack in the area, forcing some schools to send students home as a precaution.

Sources within the community said information about the alleged threat spread rapidly among residents after claims emerged that suspected bandits had been sighted around the area.

Amid growing anxiety, students of Oye Egbo Grammar School in Oye Ekiti were reportedly asked to return home to avoid any unforeseen security situation.

It was further gathered that a warning letter allegedly addressed to the traditional ruler of the town surfaced online, claiming that armed bandits were planning to invade the community.

However, the authenticity of the letter and the claims surrounding the alleged attack could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.

According to a source who craved anonymity, the development created fear within the community, with many people avoiding unnecessary movement while parents hurried to pick up their children from schools.

The source added that security personnel were seen patrolling strategic locations in the town in large numbers, apparently to reassure residents and prevent any possible breach of security.

Efforts to get the reaction of the police spokesperson proved abortive as of press time.
