Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday urged the Postmaster-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Ms. Tola Odeyemi, to embrace innovative approaches to ensure sustainable change that meets current and future needs.
The Governor emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to enhance the ease of doing business in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made these remarks during a courtesy visit by Ms. Odeyemi to the Lagos House in Marina.
He also reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to collaborating with NIPOST to improve its service centers, enhance physical infrastructure, and support e-commerce initiatives for efficient movement and sales of goods.
“You and your team need to think outside the box, make a difference, and revamp NIPOST. Don’t hesitate to challenge the status quo or introduce necessary changes. The structures and systems in place were designed for a different era. To create an organisation capable of meeting today’s and future needs, change is inevitable,” Governor Sanwo-Olu advised.
In her response, Ms. Odeyemi commended the Lagos State Government for its significant achievements in governance and infrastructure development.
She praised the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu for organizing impactful events in December, which attracted a large number of visitors from the diaspora, enhancing the State’s reputation as a top destination during the festive period.
Ms. Odeyemi underscored the importance of partnerships in governance and service delivery, expressing NIPOST’s readiness to collaborate with Lagos State to drive innovation, boost economic development, and improve public service delivery.
“I commend your administration for the remarkable strides in governance and infrastructure development, which have positioned Lagos as a center of excellence and a beacon of progress in our nation,” she said.
“As Postmaster-General, one of my primary objectives is to establish strategic partnerships that will enhance NIPOST’s efficiency and relevance in a rapidly evolving world. Lagos State, as the economic hub of Nigeria, is a critical partner in this vision.
“The e-commerce sector is rapidly growing, and Lagos is at the forefront of this expansion. Through improved postal and logistics services, we aim to support small businesses and individuals participating in e-commerce. Partnering with Lagos State will enable us to optimize last-mile delivery and ensure seamless connectivity within the city and across the nation,” Ms. Odeyemi concluded.
