Sanwo-Olu commissions Nigeria’s first LG-owned radio station in Mushin
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned Nigeria’s first local government-owned radio station, Ishokan 106.7 FM, established by the Mushin Local Government. Represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the governor praised the initiative during the launch of several projects by Council Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye.
Sanwo-Olu described the radio station as a milestone worthy of emulation by other LGAs, noting that effective communication with citizens is vital for development. He also commended the council for consolidating federal agencies in one location and executing major infrastructure projects, including roads and markets.
The governor reaffirmed the APC-led administration’s commitment to grassroots development, citing recent investments in schools, healthcare, and administrative infrastructure across the state. He urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), emphasizing civic responsibility as key to sustaining national reforms.
APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, announced that voter registration will begin next month. He revealed that Mushin has 547 polling units—the highest in Lagos—and encouraged residents to mobilize ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We expect at least 250 votes per polling unit from Mushin, which would give us over 136,000 votes. Those who support our candidates must ensure they are registered,” Ojelabi said, urging members to translate their loyalty into votes.
Also speaking, former senator Ganiyu Solomon highlighted the value of seeking wise counsel in governance, while Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, commended the council for aligning with the state’s THEMES Plus development agenda.
Ayinde expressed confidence that future administrations would build on Bamigboye’s achievements, which have made residents of Mushin proud. He assured the council of continued support from the state government.
In his remarks, Hon. Bamigboye urged residents to take ownership of public infrastructure, emphasizing that progress is sustained when citizens act as custodians. He pledged to continue delivering transformative projects that improve lives and foster inclusive growth in Mushin.
