Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged continued support and partnership with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to strengthen security in the state, describing Lagos as strategic to Nigeria’s economic progress.

Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and his delegation during a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Marina.

The governor commended the Nigerian Air Force for consistently deploying competent and professional officers to Lagos, noting that the long-standing collaboration between the state and the Air Force has contributed significantly to safeguarding critical assets and installations.

“Lagos is alive to its responsibility. The Nigerian Air Force and the Lagos State Government have been in partnership for a long time. There are strategic installations and facilities you have in Lagos, and we will continue to ensure they are fully safeguarded,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He expressed satisfaction with the existing relationship between both parties, reiterating the state government’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening the partnership in the interest of national security and economic stability.

Earlier in his remarks, Air Marshal Aneke commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for what he described as purposeful transformation and visionary leadership in Lagos State.

He noted that Lagos hosts one of the Nigerian Air Force’s earliest and major bases, underscoring the strong historical ties between the state and the service.

“The Nigerian Air Force and Lagos have a long-standing relationship. We cannot come into Lagos without acknowledging the remarkable support and the developmental strides under your leadership,” Aneke said.

The Chief of Air Staff added that the NAF remains open to deeper collaboration with the Lagos State Government to enhance security in the state and across the country.
