By Adeola Ogunrinde –
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to building a safer Lagos, calling for stronger collaboration between government, security agencies, and residents. He made the pledge on Thursday at the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security organised by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) in Victoria Island.
Speaking on the theme “Building Trust, Enhancing Security: A New Era of Security and Partnerships,” the governor reiterated that safeguarding lives and property remains a shared responsibility. He stressed that every investment in security directly contributes to peace, order, and the continued growth of Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration will continue to support the Federal Government and security agencies in their efforts to achieve a crime-free society, noting that his renewed commitment to a safer Lagos is central to his governance agenda.

The Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, credited Lagos’ relative safety to the Sanwo-Olu administration’s sustained investment in modern security infrastructure. He highlighted key achievements, including the acquisition of patrol vehicles, infrastructural upgrades, and extensive capacity-building initiatives.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the LSSTF Board of Trustees, Mr Kehinde Durosimi-Etti, praised donors for their consistent support. He emphasised the role of trust in maintaining effective security operations and urged private organisations, corporate bodies, students, and well-meaning individuals to contribute to the Fund.
Presenting the security report for October 2024 to September 2025, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Jimoh Olohundare, revealed that the Command recorded 152 murder cases within the period. He added that 9,275 miscreants were arrested and 518 rounds of ammunition recovered, among other milestones.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Gallantry to the Commissioner of Police Special Squad One for foiling a kidnap attempt and neutralising nine kidnappers during an operation in the Ladipo area in July last year.
The state government also handed over 100 new patrol vehicles to security operatives to boost operational efficiency. The event drew heads of security formations, representatives of financial institutions, private sector organisations, students, and traditional and religious leaders.
