Wife of the Lagos State governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on Christians and Nigerians to show love to one another, reflecting on the significance of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. She made this call during the 2025 Family Easter Fiesta themed “Love Beyond Measure,” held at Lagos House, Marina.

Quoting Isaiah 53:5, Mrs. Sanwo-Olu described Jesus’ death as a demonstration of God’s love for mankind and His resurrection as a victory over death. She said Easter is a time for Christians to embrace love, sacrifice, and unwavering faith in God.

“Through Christ’s victory over death, all believers can share in triumph over sin. Easter is celebrated globally to reinforce the virtues of sacrifice, charity, love, and piety,” she said.

The First Lady noted that the annual fiesta, hosted by her office, is an important event in the state’s calendar. It gives children the chance to celebrate with the first family, hear the word of God, and receive gifts.

“The fiesta is dear to my heart. This season reminds us of the power of love and God’s everlasting grace. It’s a time to promote virtues, unity, and compassion,” she said.

Addressing the youth, she encouraged them to pursue their dreams and avoid negative influences. “Believe in your abilities and don’t be afraid to shine,” she advised.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, urged children to be good ambassadors of their families and the state. He assured them of access to quality education and skills needed for success.

Reverend Kolade Ilori of Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Yaba, in his exhortation, said God expects believers to spread His love to all people, both near and far.
