Public and private primary and secondary schools in Ekiti State will resume for the second term on Monday, January 5, the state Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye, has announced.

Aderiye disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti, ahead of the reopening of schools across the state.

She said the resumption followed the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school year and marked the end of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The commissioner explained that schools had been on break since the completion of the first term of the session.

According to her, both teachers and students are expected to return to school on the stated date, as academic activities will commence immediately.

Aderiye noted that the new term would feature a blend of academic and extracurricular programmes aimed at improving learning outcomes.

She added that the state government would continue to provide clear policies and regulations to ensure quality education and improved performance in schools.
