President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration is making steady progress in tackling insecurity across the country, with the armed forces and security agencies recording victories against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes.

Speaking on Wednesday in a nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the President commended the sacrifices of security personnel, noting that their efforts are restoring peace and stability in several regions.

“We are working diligently to enhance national security, ensuring our economy experiences improved growth and performance. The officers and men of our armed forces and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep us safe. They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes,” Tinubu said.

Highlighting the progress made, the President stated that Boko Haram activities in the North-East, separatist violence in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping in the North-West are being curbed through ongoing military operations.

“We witness their victories through their blood and sweat in stamping out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, IPOB/ESN violence in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping in the North-West. We must continue to celebrate their gallantry and salute their courage on behalf of a grateful nation,” he said.

Tinubu added that peace has returned to hundreds of previously troubled communities, with thousands of displaced people now returning to their homes in the North-East and North-West.
