Security Memo: Ondo assures residents of adequate safety
By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Ondo State Government has assured residents that there is no cause for panic following a leaked security memo warning of a possible terrorist attack in parts of the state.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, said in a statement on Wednesday that the memo, reportedly issued by the State Security Service (SSS) to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, was part of routine intelligence sharing among security agencies.
He explained that such reports are normal in security operations and are meant to help agencies identify and prevent potential threats through joint vigilance and proactive measures.
“The public can be assured that these reports are being acted upon by the government and relevant security agencies, and necessary precautions are being taken to ensure safety and security,” Ajanaku said.
He urged residents to remain calm and vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to security agencies, assuring them that the government was taking every step to prevent any attack in the state.
Ajanaku added that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains in close contact with security agencies to protect residents, especially those in border communities, and to sustain Ondo’s reputation as one of the safest states in Nigeria.
He appealed to the people to go about their normal activities peacefully, cooperate with security operatives, and avoid taking laws into their hands.
