Segun Ogungbe’s Irete ranks highest in Nollywood admissions since release

Segun Ogungbe’s recently released movie, Irete: The Reckoning, has recorded the highest Nollywood admissions for the weekend.
The movie, which premiered in cinemas on March 20, 2026, was directed by Segun Ogungbe and co-produced by Wunmi Ajiboye. Since its release, viewership figures have continued to rise rapidly, with the film hitting the ₦20.1 million mark. Segun and Wunmi took to their Instagram pages to celebrate the milestone.
Irete: The Reckoning is an epic film centred on the story of a powerful witch named Osimiri, who protects a kingdom from imminent danger, leading to a marriage pledge between her daughter, Osunrayi, and a prince. The plot takes a twist when a mysterious woman named Egbin enters the scene, resulting in betrayed oaths, hidden secrets, and intense rivalry.
The film explores themes of rivalry, betrayal, and human responsibility in shaping fate. It features a star-studded cast, including Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Sola Sobowale, Deyemi Okanlawon, Dele Odule, Faithia Balogun, and Kolawole Ajeyemi, among others.
Segun Ogungbe is a Nigerian actor, film producer, director, and scriptwriter known for his outstanding contributions to the industry. He is a veteran widely recognised for his roles in Olokiki Oru (The Midnight Sensation), Ibi Giga, and One Bad Turn.
He is also a recipient of the 2021 Movie Icon Award by City People Magazine. Other productions by Ogungbe include Ite Oba and Olusola, among others.
