Shettima leads APC delegation as Zamfara governor Lawal defects from PDP

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has departed Abuja for Gusau to formally receive Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement posted on his official X account on Tuesday, the Vice President’s spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima is representing President Bola Tinubu at the event and is heading a high-level delegation of APC leaders to formally welcome Lawal following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Lawal recently announced his resignation from the PDP, a move seen as significant in the evolving political dynamics ahead of future elections.

The governor is expected to be accompanied by members of his cabinet, political associates, and thousands of supporters at a grand reception scheduled to hold at the Gusau Trade Fair Complex.
