Shettima leads Nigerian delegation to Ethiopia on nutrition delivery

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead a Nigerian delegation on a government-to-government exchange aimed at improving nutrition delivery.
Shettima is visiting Ethiopia at the invitation of the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Tiruneh, who is championing a multisectoral approach to tackling nutrition challenges.
According to a statement, the Vice-President will participate in the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit, which is designed to enable stakeholders from both countries to share experiences on building effective nutrition programmes across federal, state and local governments.

The exchange will also allow the Nigerian delegation to learn how Ethiopia’s government-led nutrition strategy can strengthen service delivery and improve outcomes.
As part of the programme, the delegation will visit key agricultural and nutrition-focused establishments, including a wheat farm and banana plantation in Oromia, the Bounty of the Basket Training Centre and households in Mojo, as well as Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.
The delegation includes Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi.
Also accompanying the Vice-President are the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari; and the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar.
Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Addis Ababa.
