Shettima, Obasanjo, Jonathan in Awka as Soludo begins second term as Anambra Governor

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, on Tuesday represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, who was sworn in for a second term alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
The ceremony, held in Awka, drew top political figures, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, underscoring the national importance of the event.
Speaking at the event on behalf of President Tinubu, Shettima praised Soludo’s intellectual contributions to governance and national development.
“I applaud Governor Soludo’s contributions to nation-building, particularly in helping to foster unity and strengthen Nigeria’s political, economic and social institutions through his practical commentaries on the state of the nation,” Shettima said.
The Vice President further described the governor as a principled leader who has remained focused on development despite the pressures of politics.
“Prof. Soludo is a man of ideas and honour who, despite coming into office at a time when many politicians had started mortgaging integrity for relevance and sowing seeds of discord, has remained committed to national growth and development,” he stated.
Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, began his first tenure in 2022 and now embarks on a second term amid expectations that his administration will consolidate ongoing reforms in security, infrastructure, and economic transformation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, and supporters, marking what observers described as another significant democratic milestone for Anambra State.
