No fewer than six aspirants in Kwara State have purchased the ₦50 million governorship nomination form of the All Progressives Congress.
Prior to obtaining the forms, reports indicate that the aspirants consulted party elders and key stakeholders to declare their ambitions and garner support.
Engineer Olufemi Sanni (Araba), a civil engineer, mediapreneur, and politician, was the first to purchase the form.
He was followed by Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, a two-term Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Similarly, Danladi-Salihu was followed by Senator Yahyah Ibrahim Oloriegbe, a medical doctor who represented Kwara Central in the 9th Senate after defeating Bukola Saraki in 2019.
Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), former chairman of the APC in Kwara State and a seasoned politician, emerged as the fourth aspirant to purchase the form.
In fifth position is Dr Muideen Azeez Salako, Global President of the Offa Descendants Union, who holds a PhD in Forensic Accounting and Audit as well as an MBA.
Meanwhile, the only female aspirant, Hajia Yetunde Musliat Bello Adebowale, a retired civil servant and the first woman to declare her intention to contest, was the last among the group to purchase the governorship form.
With the APC extending the sale of forms to Monday midnight, more aspirants are expected to join the race for Kwara State’s top seat.
