Six schools qualify for final stage of KW-IRS annual Tax Club Quiz

Six schools have qualified for the final stage of the 2024 Tax Club Quiz Competition organized by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development for secondary schools in Kwara State.

The disclosure was made in a statement issued by the Corporate Affairs Department of KW-IRS, signed by Funmilola Oguntunbi on Wednesday in Ilorin.

The preliminary stages of the competition took place between 24th June and 4th July, 2024, where 83 out of the 154 registered schools participated in the quiz from their respective schools. Twelve schools advanced to the semi-final stage.

Following the semi-finals, held on the 8th and 9th of October, 2024, six finalists emerged. The semi-final round was conducted as an online Computer-Based Test (CBT) with appropriate back-end monitoring by members of the KW-IRS Tax Club Advocacy Committee, alongside Mrs. Roseline Ayansola, a representative of the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

The qualified schools are Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Asa Dam; Government Secondary School, Lafiagi; Shepherd Secondary School, Lafiagi; Government Day Secondary School, Gaa-Akanbi; Kwara State College of Education Model Secondary School, Oro; and Anglican Boys’ Academy, Oro.

The six finalists will compete for the grand prize of N2.5 million at the final stage of the competition, scheduled to take place in Ilorin on 7th November, 2024.
