The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, on Tuesday, received the new Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, at his palace.
During the meeting, the monarch urged the police to intensify security efforts across the state. He also commended the CP for prioritizing Ogbomoso as his first point of call after assuming office.
“I commend his commitment to securing our land and acknowledge the proactive efforts of previous commissioners. I also recognize the dedication of our Area Commander, whose professionalism and support have been invaluable. However, while progress has been made, there is still much work to be done,” he stated.
Oba Olaoye noted that the CP’s visit was not just an official duty but a demonstration of his deep-rooted commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
While acknowledging the efforts of previous commissioners and the professionalism of the Area Commander in Ogbomoso, the Soun raised concerns over rising security threats in the region. He highlighted increasing cases of armed robbery, particularly in Pakiotan, the destructive activities of Fulani herdsmen on farmlands, and the growing criminal activities of area boys at night.
In response, CP Adenola assured the monarch of his commitment to improving security in Ogbomoso and announced plans to hold quarterly security meetings to assess and address emerging threats.
