Super Eagles’ Aina doubtful for Arsenal vs. Nottingham Forest EPL match
By Tosin Omojola –
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina may be sidelined when Nottingham Forest faces Arsenal this Saturday.
New Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed that the Nigerian international is a significant doubt ahead of the English Premier League clash.
In his first press conference as Forest manager on Thursday afternoon, the former Tottenham Hotspur coach provided a detailed injury update.
Postecoglou revealed that Aina remains the only injury concern ahead of the game at Emirates Stadium. The Nigerian defender has not trained since Tuesday, after being forced off early in Nigeria’s FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa just ten minutes into the match.
Aina is set to undergo further medical assessments before a final decision is made, but Postecoglou indicated the versatile defender is unlikely to feature against Arsenal.
“We have a clean bill of health apart from Aina,” Postecoglou said. “He had an issue while playing with the national team and has not trained since returning from international duty this week.”
Aina has played every minute of Forest’s league matches this season and impressed in games against Brentford, Crystal Palace, and West Ham. Last season, he made 35 league appearances, scoring twice to help Forest qualify for European competition.
