Nigeria’s Super Falcons coach, Justin Madugu, has been named the Best Coach of the Tournament at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.

The senior women’s national team overcame numerous hurdles, including a hard-fought final victory over host nation Morocco, to clinch a record 10th WAFCON title.

Madugu’s tactical brilliance and leadership played a crucial role in guiding the Rasheedat Ajibade-led squad to success.

Under his guidance, the Falcons had an undefeated run in the tournament, showcasing their strength, resilience, and cohesion throughout the campaign.

The Super Falcons scored a total of 14 goals, demonstrating their attacking prowess, while their solid defense conceded only three goals during the entire competition.

Madugu was appointed head coach following the departure of former handler Randy Waldrum, and his success has further cemented Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.

In addition to Madugu’s recognition, Rasheedat Ajibade was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was awarded Best Goalkeeper.
