Suspended catholic priest wins APC governorship ticket

A suspended catholic priest Hyacinth Alia has won the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election.
Alia clinched 7,000 votes in the direct primaries to defeat former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Barnabas Gemade and former Attorney General of the Federation Mike Aondoakaa.
The catholic church had suspended Alia as priest after he declared for governorship of the state.
The priest said he joined the governorship race to rescue Benue people from the “shackles of maladministration”.
“From the day I took the decision to answer the overwhelming calls of my people to contest the governorship of Benue with the aim to rescue our people from the shackles of maladministration, I was fully aware of the sacrifice I was going to make,” he had said.
