Teachers are true heroes, shaping minds, guiding generations — First Lady

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has celebrated Nigerian teachers as “true heroes” who play a vital role in shaping the minds and destinies of future generations.
In her message to mark World Teachers’ Day 2025, themed “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage,” the First Lady called for urgent attention to the growing shortfall of teachers worldwide and renewed commitment to supporting the teaching profession.
“Teachers are true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations,” she said. “The shortage of teachers is a challenge we must confront with urgency by empowering educators, investing in their growth, and inspiring more to join this noble profession.”
Senator Tinubu, who described herself as a lifelong teacher, emphasized the need for greater recognition of teachers’ contributions to national development and global progress.
“World Teachers’ Day draws attention to one of society’s noblest professions,” she noted. “As a lifelong teacher myself, I salute all educators on this special day.”
The First Lady urged stakeholders at all levels — government, private sector, and communities — to work together to strengthen the education system by improving teachers’ welfare, professional development, and working conditions.
She concluded her message with warm wishes to teachers across the country, saying:
