Temitope Osoba died at police station, fiancé alleges

The fiancé of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, has alleged that the actress died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, disputing reports that her death was caused by complications from breast cancer.

Onadeko made the claim during an interview with the Celestial Reality Check, where he also dismissed allegations that Osoba was poisoned or maltreated before her death.

According to him, he received a call from an unidentified person around midnight informing him of Osoba’s death at a police station in Ikorodu. He said he did not know the particular station where she allegedly died but reported himself at a nearby police station.

Onadeko said Osoba had gone to visit a woman identified as Kehinde Osoba shortly before her death. He explained that he could not accompany her because of church activities, adding that a hairdresser with whom the actress had been staying went with her.

The cleric acknowledged that Osoba had previously battled breast cancer and undergone surgery but insisted that the illness was not responsible for her death. He also denied having access to funds allegedly donated for her treatment or using the money to build his church. “I met Tope like two years ago and the church has been there since 20 years ago. The church is complete before she even joined us. It has been roofed and painted. I never had access to her money,” he said.

Onadeko also rejected claims that Osoba was prevented from driving her car, saying she drove herself to Iperu shortly before her death. He added that the actress struggled with smoking and that he had encouraged her to stop, noting that members of the church were aware of the habit.

The prophet equally denied allegations that Osoba was maltreated before her death, including claims that she was subjected to degrading treatment as punishment. He said they had lived together without being subjected to hardship and maintained that Osoba left the church about three weeks before her death.

Osoba, a budding actress, died on Wednesday at the age of 40.
