Nigerian singer and songwriter Teni Apata has challenged fellow music star Tiwa Savage to a boxing match, with ₦3 billion reportedly at stake.
Teni issued the challenge in a video shared on her Instagram page on Friday, calling on Tiwa Savage to step into the boxing ring with her.
The challenge came shortly after the first female celebrity boxing match between reality TV star Phyna and actress Nkechi Blessing, in which Phyna won ₦5 million after defeating her opponent.
Accompanying the video, Teni wrote, “MAMA!!! MAKE WE FIGHT @TIWASAVAGE 3BILLION LATER I GO APOLOGIZE FOR OUTSIDE THE BOXING RING,” suggesting that she would apologise to Savage after their proposed bout.
Teni also jokingly said she would not spare Savage because of her son, Jamil, and vowed to beat the Afropop star in the ring.
Savage responded to the challenge in the comment section with a brief but direct message: “Pick a date.”
The response further fuelled the playful exchange between the two singers, with Savage appearing to leave Teni with the task of selecting a date for the proposed showdown.
The exchange quickly attracted attention from fans, particularly over the reported ₦3 billion stake and Teni’s confidence in her challenge. However, there has been no official announcement of a fight date, venue or promoter, meaning the proposed bout remains a playful social media exchange between the two entertainers.
