Terror kingpin, Boderi killed, 244 arrested

A notorious bandit and terror kingpin, Boderi Isyaku, has been killed alongside some of his fighters around Bada/Riyawa in Chikun and Igabi local government areas of Kaduna state during a gun duel with troops of the Nigerian Military.
Before he was killed, Boderi and his cohorts had been terrorising Kaduna and its environs for nearly a decade, unleashing a reign of terror, fear, death and destruction on residents of Kaduna and neighbouring Niger State.
Speaking on this development, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle, commended the Nigerian Military for ending Boderi’s reign of terror, praising their bravery and professionalism. He added that the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to providing adequate security in every part of the country and charged other stakeholders to cooperate with the government in the fight against insurgency and terrorism.
Reeling out the achievements of troops in the fight against banditry and other forms of criminality, the Minister revealed that as of February 2024, 286 terrorists were killed and 244 arrested, with 73 crude oil smugglers apprehended just as 122 kidnapped victims were rescued. Dr Matawalle said many terrorist hideouts were also destroyed through several air interdictions carried out by the troops.
He urged Nigerians to support the armed forces, saying that the Federal Government is doing everything possible to fight insecurity and restore the hope of Nigerians.
