Thrilling fixtures as Ekiti Governor’s Cup 2024 enters Round of 16

The 2024 edition of the Ekiti Governor’s Cup has reached the exciting Round of 16 stage, with eight captivating fixtures scheduled to take place across various centers in the state on Thursday.

This annual competition, sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns and organized by the Schools’ Sports Foundation, continues to provide a platform for emerging football talents from secondary schools to showcase their skills.

The action begins with Community Grammar School, Kota, facing off against Ijammodu Comprehensive High School in what promises to be a hard-fought match. Meanwhile, St. Augustine Comprehensive High School will go head-to-head with Saliu Adeoti Memorial High School at Ogangamodu Grammar School, as both teams battle for a spot in the quarterfinals.

In Ikole, Egbeoba High School will clash with Iludun Community High School, Ilejemeje, while Christ School, Ado-Ekiti, will meet Eporo High School at Eleyo High School, Ikere Ekiti, in a game many are calling the tie of the round.

The fifth match will feature Government College, Ikere, taking on United Comprehensive High School, in a contest between evenly matched teams. Efon High School will face Eso One Secondary School, while Ekiti Baptist High School and Eso Obe Secondary School are set to deliver an exciting encounter.

The final Round of 16 fixture will see Ekiti Baptist High School, Igede, take on Aramoko, promising to close the day with an electrifying finish.

Over the years, the Governor’s Cup has grown in prominence, fostering healthy competition among secondary schools and discovering raw football talent across Ekiti State.

The support of Peculiar Ultimate Concerns and the meticulous organization by the Schools’ Sports Foundation have been key in maintaining the tournament’s high standards.
