Temitope Adedeji, Akure

Five persons were on Thursday killed by thunder at Ago Dada, near Ala village/Imafon in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The thunder struck during rainfall that didn’t last more than 20 minutes.

Westernpost learnt that the victims were middle aged men who were playing football when the incident happened.

The victims were said to be farmers from other neighbouring states.

An eyewitness who narrated the incident to our correspondent said the head of the village was accused by the community of being complicit in the mysterious incident.

It was alleged that a similar incident occurred last year in the area with nine villagers struck by lightning.

It was gathered that it took the timely intervention of policemen and hunters to rescue the village head from being lynched.

Efforts by Westernpost to reach the village head proved abortive.
