Tinubu, APC not responsible for ADC leadership dispute — Presidency

The Presidency has rejected claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are responsible for the opposition party’s ongoing leadership crisis.
In a post on X, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, said the legal disputes currently troubling the ADC were initiated internally and not by the President or the ruling party.
“ADC people should know that it was not President Tinubu and the APC government that went to court. Simple due diligence and better management of internal issues would have averted this mess,” Ajayi wrote.
His comments came after fresh accusations by the ADC that the Nigerian government was allegedly working to destabilise the party amid its worsening leadership disputes. Ajayi insisted that the crisis stems from internal disagreements within the party and warned that blaming external actors would not resolve the problem.
The controversy follows a recent decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to suspend recognition of all leadership factions within the ADC. INEC made the decision in line with a Court of Appeal directive instructing political parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
