President Bola Tinubu has commended the progress of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), praising Minister Nyesom Wike’s leadership in delivering critical infrastructure and enhancing governance.

Speaking on Sunday at the Presidential Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, during an Eid al-Fitr homage, Tinubu highlighted key initiatives that have significantly improved the quality of life for FCT residents.

The President acknowledged reforms such as the removal of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the establishment of an Independent Civil Service Commission, and improved mobility and promotions for FCT workers—all contributing to better governance in the capital.

“It is nothing other than a privilege to be the landlord of every one of us in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. And when we started, [Wike] came up with a lot of good ideas to liberate the bureaucracy, bring forward-looking, progressive thinking to the administration, and give opportunities to many of you who would have still been hindered by property rights,” Tinubu said.

The President also recalled Wike’s request to remove the FCT from the TSA system, a move that granted the minister greater financial flexibility to complete infrastructure projects.

“I remember the day Nyesom Wike came to me and said, ‘Please, take us out of this problem of TSA so that I can do more work and achieve more,’” Tinubu noted.

The President highlighted several achievements under Wike’s administration, including the opening of rural areas, completion of abandoned projects, upgrading of health centers, refurbishment of public buildings, and improved security to boost economic activities.

Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to supporting infrastructure development and governance reforms in the FCT, emphasizing that such initiatives align with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s vision for national progress.
