Tinubu appoints AVM Kaita as chairman, governing council of Bayero University

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Saddiq Ismaila Kaita as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Kaita succeeds Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who also serves as Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). The presidency stated that the leadership change is intended to allow Dr. Gawuna to fully concentrate on his responsibilities at the FHA.

Before retiring from active service, AVM Kaita held several strategic positions in the Nigerian Air Force, including Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation.

He is widely respected for his contributions to training, standardisation, and innovation within the military.
