Tinubu appoints six new Chief Medical Directors for federal hospitals

President Bola Tinubu has appointed six new Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) to lead federal government-owned hospitals across Nigeria.
The appointments take immediate effect upon their assumption of office, reflecting the administration’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.
The newly appointed CMDs are:
- Prof. Olusegun Sylvester Ojo – Federal Teaching Hospital, Akure, Ondo State. Prof. Ojo, a seasoned medical professional, previously served as the pioneer CMD of Ondo State Specialist Hospital.
- Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi – Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe. His reappointment for a second and final term follows his outstanding leadership and contributions to the hospital.
- Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum – Federal Teaching Hospital, Azare, Bauchi State. He previously served as Acting CMD before his confirmation as the substantive head.
- Dr. Ikrama Hassan – Federal Teaching Hospital, Lafia, Nasarawa State. A consultant physician, Dr. Hassan previously led the Dalhatu Ibrahim Arab Specialist Hospital before its upgrade to a teaching hospital.
- Dr. Ali Mohammed Ramat – National Orthopedic Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State. A renowned consultant orthopedic and spine surgeon, he will head the newly established orthopedic hospital.
- Dr. Haruna Abubakar Shehu – Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, Kaduna State. A consultant family physician, he will lead the newly established medical center.
President Tinubu congratulated the new CMDs and urged them to uphold professionalism, accountability, and excellence in their roles.
