Tinubu commissions Karu roads, says project will boost local economy

President Bola Tinubu has said the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of road infrastructure across satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are aimed at stimulating economic activities and improving the quality of life for residents.

The President, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, stated this on Monday while inaugurating the newly rehabilitated and expanded Karu township roads in Abuja.

According to Tinubu, the project reflects his administration’s commitment to tackling urban congestion and delivering infrastructure that directly benefits residents under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the Karu corridor, which serves as a major gateway between the FCT and neighbouring states, had for years been plagued by severe traffic congestion, affecting productivity and daily commuting.

“By expanding and rehabilitating these roads, we are not just laying asphalt; we are injecting life back into the local economy,” the President said.

He added that the completed project had significantly reduced travel time, eased traffic congestion and created a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive in the densely populated area.

Tinubu commended the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for overseeing what he described as the rapid transformation of infrastructure across Abuja.

He also praised the contractor, Abdul-Val Constructions Limited, for delivering the project on schedule, saying the company had demonstrated that indigenous firms are capable of executing projects to international standards.
