Tinubu congratulates NPA boss Dantsoho on global ports role, hails Senator Ekpenyong at 40

By Kunle Sanni –
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), on his election as Vice President (Africa) of the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH), while also celebrating Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong on his 40th birthday.
Dantsoho will serve a two-year term on the leadership team of the 70-year-old global body representing seaports worldwide. The president thanked IAPH members for their confidence in the NPA chief, noting that a former NPA head, Hadiza Bala Usman, was similarly elected in 2017.
Tinubu expressed optimism that Dantsoho’s appointment would strengthen Nigeria’s marine and blue economy agenda. He urged him to continue reforms that will position the NPA as a driver of Nigeria’s goal to grow its economy to $1 trillion by 2030.
In a separate message, the president commended Senator Ekpenyong — one of the youngest lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly and a former Cross River State Commissioner for Finance — for his dedication to legislative work and his sponsorship of motions and bills addressing key development priorities.
“As a firm believer in the creative talents of young people and their ability to make a positive difference in nation-building and the sustenance of democracy, I value immensely the participation of young Nigerians in governance,” Tinubu said.
He prayed for the senator’s continued strength and good health as he serves his constituents and the nation.
