Tinubu congratulates winners of FCT, Kano and Rivers elections, praises peaceful polls

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the winners of Saturday’s elections held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and in parts of Kano and Rivers states.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections across the six area councils of the FCT, alongside by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, and in the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the victorious candidates to serve with humility, patriotism and dedication. He described the mandate given to them by voters as a sacred trust that must be honoured through responsible leadership.

Tinubu also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory, noting that the performance of the administration had translated into political gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President congratulated the national leadership of the APC, as well as the party’s leadership in Kano and Rivers states, and members of the party for their victories at the polls.

He praised INEC, security agencies and voters for ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections. Tinubu also acknowledged the courage and discipline of all contestants, saying that democracy thrives on active participation and healthy competition.

According to the statement, the President said the successful conduct of the elections further strengthens Nigeria’s democratic culture and institutions. He called on INEC to continue improving its processes to deliver even more credible and exemplary elections in the future.
